[Busan] A Container-Built Miffy Cafe on Yeongdo, With a Terrace Over the Harbor

After the Haeundae Miffy store, the day’s third Miffy stop stood on a hillside of Yeongdo island: Miffy Cafe Busan, three stories of bright orange shipping containers with “explore miffy’s world” over the gate and the sea of Busan peeking between the boxes.

Coffee With a Harbor Below

The real star of this place, I suspect, is the view. Step onto the terrace and Busan harbor spreads out below — container terminals, the city, ships threading between them. Nursing a cafe coffee while gazing at all that is, quite simply, an elegant way to spend an hour.

A Photo Spot at Every Turn

Inside, everything is composed for the camera — a giant Miffy balloon reigning over the kids space, a goods floor lined with Miffy silhouettes. You never run out of corners to point a lens at. My one regret: the fluffy plush my wife and daughter had set their hearts on was nowhere to be found. Limited goods, like travel itself, are a matter of once-in-a-lifetime encounters.

Notes from the Day

  • Miffy Cafe Busan is a three-story stack of shipping containers on a Yeongdo hillside (part of the SINKI complex): cafe, goods shop, and kids space.
  • The terrace overlooks Busan harbor, its container terminals, and the city — the view is the real headliner.
  • Photo spots everywhere; fun with kids or without.
  • Stock of specific goods is luck of the draw — the fluffy plush we wanted was sold out.

From the cafe we headed down the Yeongdo coast to the haenyeo divers’ eatery — where the most “straight from the sea” flavors of this trip were waiting.
