From the calm of Seongsu-dong, it was back on the subway — this time heading to Seoul’s biggest commercial hub, Myeong-dong.
Once again, Seoul’s metro reminded me what excellent public infrastructure looks like. Affordable. Clean. Stress-free. With Korea in the middle of a public holiday, the crowds were extraordinary — the energy of today’s Korea radiating from every face.

One of the goals today: exploring Korean cosmetics, which have become a global phenomenon. I picked up a few men’s skincare items myself — the range and quality on offer here continues to impress.
Meanwhile, my wife and daughter moved methodically from one shop to the next, searching for their own finds with quiet intensity. A passion for beauty that transcends generations — it’s concentrated here in Myeong-dong in a way you don’t see anywhere else.
Browsing a larger flagship store like OLIVE YOUNG is more than enough to feel the pulse of what’s trending right now. Amidst the crowds, each of us found our own rhythm and our own small treasures.
