About Private Wisdom
Private Wisdom is a luxury lifestyle blog sharing firsthand experiences of Japan’s affluent culture — fine dining, premium hotels, fashion, and travel — published in Japanese and English.
About the Author
I work at a major management consulting firm while operating a private investment company focused on real estate and financial assets. The lifestyle that these endeavors have enabled is what I write about here — not theory, but actual lived experience.
Together with my family of three, I’ve explored the finest experiences Japan and Asia have to offer: from restaurants and hotels in Yokohama and Tokyo to street markets in Busan and temples in Bangkok. Every review on this blog is based on my own firsthand experience, paid out of pocket.
What You’ll Find Here

Editorial Policy
All restaurant, hotel, and brand content is based on personal experiences paid for by me. When an article contains affiliate links or sponsored content, this is clearly disclosed within the post. My goal is honest, useful information — not marketing copy.

How these articles are made
Every article on this site follows the same process.
- Only photographs I took myself. No stock images, no press handouts
- A few articles use illustrations generated from my own photographs, usually to avoid identifiable people or details. Those images always carry the note “Illustration — not a photograph.”
- Facts such as opening hours, prices and access are checked against primary sources — usually the operator’s own site — at the time of publication. Where something could not be verified, the article says so
- When a place has closed or a rule has changed, the article states the date. Nothing is left standing as though it were still current
- Any PR or affiliate link is disclosed at the point it appears. No payment changes whether something is covered or how it is assessed
The experiences themselves are paid for out of pocket and belong to my family of three. I do not write about places I have not been, food I have not eaten, or rooms I have not slept in.
If you find an error
If you spot a factual mistake, or information that has since changed, please use the contact form. I will check it, correct it, and leave a note in the article saying what was corrected.
