Introducing The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama: Luxury in Minatomirai
The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama is a five-star hotel that opened in September 2020 in the Minato Mirai area of Yokohama and is the second location of the prestigious The Kahala in Hawaii. With a total of 146 spacious guest rooms, an indoor pool, spa, and multiple restaurants, the hotel is known for its elegance. The hotel is about an 8-minute walk from Shin-Takashima Station or Minatomirai Station on the Minatomirai Line, and its location overlooking the Yokohama Harbor is attractive. You can check out accommodation plans and facility details on the official website The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama. Restaurant information can be found on the official dining page, and pool and spa information can be found on the official facilities page. Information on sightseeing in the area is available on the official Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 website. This hotel is perfect for a summer family vacation or a couple’s stay, and we enjoyed the pool, room service, and breakfast.
Plan your stay: A trip to enjoy Kahala to the fullest
Stayed at The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama for a family trip during summer vacation. Reservations were made through the official website, and we chose a standard room (about 47 square meters), starting at about 50,000 yen per night for two people (price varies depending on the season). Check-in was at the Sky Lobby on the 14th floor, where the staff was warm and friendly. Confirm pool use in advance and prepare necessary swimsuits and towels. The hotel is only a 6-minute cab ride from Yokohama Station (approx. 1,000 yen). Choose a plan that includes a pool or breakfast for efficient enjoyment. This plan is the start of a luxurious stay.

Lobby and room impression: luxurious and clean
Stepping into the lobby, one is overwhelmed by the sophisticated design. You are greeted by a luxurious black and white interior and a view of Minato Mirai from the large windows. The rooms are also luxurious and outstandingly clean. The king-size bed is comfortable to sleep on, and the marble and Kahala original amenities in the bathroom are of high quality. The harbor view from the window is calming. The room is thoroughly cleaned and spotless, and a tip: request an ocean-side room to enjoy the night view. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, even with luggage spread out. This luxury created an extraordinary atmosphere.
Indoor Pool Experience: Summer Crowds and Atmosphere
The hotel’s indoor pool (3rd floor, approx. 20 m) is for hotel guests and is charged (approx. 3,000 yen). Since it was summer vacation, the place was crowded with families, and the sense of luxury was a little less luxurious. The pool is clean and the water temperature is comfortable. While children enjoyed themselves, adults swam and relaxed by the pool. However, the deck chairs tend to fill up due to the crowds; as a tip, I recommend using the pool early in the morning around 9:00 a.m., when it is empty. Towels and lockers are provided, and lifesavers are always on duty. The Jacuzzi after the pool also relieves fatigue. This experience was a great way to share active time with my family.

Room Service Dinners: Gastronomic delights in your room
We opted for room service for dinner. The menu includes a wide variety of Italian and Japanese dishes, and we ordered pizza and pasta from RISTORANTE OZIO (about 5,000 yen/person). The food was warm and tasted authentic. We ate on the sofa in our room while watching the harbor, and had a relaxing time. The attentive service staff added to the special atmosphere, and a tip: check the menu on the official website in advance and order early to avoid the crowds. Add a bottle of wine to make your dinner even more luxurious. This choice made it a private gastronomic experience.

Breakfast Attraction: Harmony of Scenery and Taste
Breakfast was served at the RISTORANTE OZIO restaurant on the 14th floor. We enjoyed American breakfast with a view of Minato Mirai from the large windows. Eggs Benedict and fresh juices are of high quality in taste and appearance, and the price is about 4,500 yen/person. The open space with morning sunlight refreshed my spirit, and as a tip, request a seat by the window to maximize your enjoyment of the view. Some days a buffet is available, so please check in advance. Breakfast is a great way to start the day.

Balancing Luxury with Summer Holiday Crowds
Because of the summer holidays, the pool and lobby were crowded, and there were moments when the sense of luxury was somewhat diminished. But the luxury of the rooms and the comfort of the breakfast made up for it. The hospitality of the staff is also high, and their attention to detail is impressive. As a learning experience, aim for the off-season during summer vacation for a quieter stay. I would also like to use the spa next time. For reference in trip planning, avoid crowds by booking on weekdays or during the fall season. Budget starts around 70,000 yen per night and is a worthwhile experience.
Private Wisdom-like Summary
A stay at The Kahala Yokohama is a journey where luxurious rooms and gastronomic delights fill the soul. My personal wisdom is that the key is to use the pool early in the morning, enjoy the view by the window for breakfast, and secure your privacy with room service. The brilliance of Minato Mirai quietly colors your daily life. This experience gently nurtures the richness of your soul.
