The hotel features a modern design with traditional Taiwanese elements. Upon entering the lobby, you are greeted by a relaxed atmosphere, and the hospitality of the staff is highly praised. During my stay, I was offered a welcome drink upon check-in with my daughter, which immediately put me into relaxation mode. The neighborhood is ideal as a starting point for sightseeing, with Taipei 101 and the Zhongzheng Memorial Hall nearby.

First overseas trip for parents and children: the beginning of a guessing game with my daughter

For my first trip abroad alone with my daughter, I chose Taiwan. The purpose was to attend a pop-up store of my favorite idol, and Taipei in 2025 is like a sacred place for fans, with frequent events by ENHYPEN and other K-Pop artists. In my case, I checked the information on the Weverse app in advance and went straight to the pop-up venue in Taipei. Just seeing my daughter’s excited face made the trip worth it.

Taipei Night Market is also an essential part of a trip to Taiwan. It was fun to look for guess goods while tasting xiaolongbao and stinky tofu at the Shilin Night Market. The time spent reflecting on the trip after returning to the hotel strengthens the bond between parents and children. For parents who are new to the guessing game, scheduling in advance is key. Taipei events tend to be crowded, so start early in the morning. From my experience, I found it helpful to consult with the hotel concierge for advice on local transportation.

The rooms at the Sheraton Taipei are family-friendly, with large beds, and I was able to relax with my daughter. The free Wi-Fi makes it convenient to make plans while watching guessing videos. The abundance of Taiwanese delicacies is also an attraction, and a breakfast buffet at the hotel’s restaurant is a perfect start to the day.

Surprised by Taiwan’s winter climate: stroll around comfortably in just a T-shirt

If you visit Taiwan during the cold winter season in Japan, you will be surprised at the difference in temperatures: Taipei in January has an average maximum temperature of 19°C and a minimum of around 10°C. It rains occasionally in the north, but it is dry and warm in the south. During my trip, I could walk around in just a T-shirt and sweat. It was perfect for moving around outside in my guess. My daughter was also happy to wear light clothing.

The weather in Taiwan is a concern for many travelers, but it is relatively mild in winter. If you want to view the city from the Taipei 101 observation deck, choose a sunny day. As a precaution against rain, it is a good idea to carry a folding umbrella. In my case, I took a walk around the Zhengdeji Station area near my hotel and realized that my warm clothes from Japan were unnecessary due to the unexpected warmth of the weather. If you take a day trip to Kaohsiung by Taiwan High-Tie, you can enjoy even warmer weather. If your guess event is outdoors, don’t forget to take UV protection.

This climate made the parent-child trip more flexible. We also enjoyed visiting food stalls at night markets without worrying about the cold. Taiwan winter clothes” are often searched in connection with travel to Taiwan, but we recommend adjusting by layering.

Hideaway Tea House: Blissful Time at Xiaoguichaan

Taiwan is famous for its tea culture. I made a reservation from Japan to visit Xiaoguantian, a hidden tea house tucked away in a back alley near Dongmen Market. The atmosphere inside the store is relaxed, and they offer a variety of authentic Taiwanese teas such as Frozen Oolong, Oriental Beauty, and Tee Kwun Yin teas. Once ordered, you can enjoy about four cups of tea, and you can taste the changes in aroma. The price is reasonable at about 2,000 Japanese yen, and the tea sweets are elegant.

In my experience, I relaxed at a window seat with my daughter. The staff carefully taught me how to brew the tea, and even a beginner could enjoy it in an authentic way. Reservations can be made through the official website or via TripAdvisor. If you want to avoid crowds, weekday afternoons are the best time to visit. As for other tea houses in Taipei, I would recommend Nanjie Jian and Zitou Lu, but the cool interior of Xiaogan Tea Hermitage was perfect for relaxing after a guessing game.

As for the benefits of tea, it is highly relaxing and relieves travel fatigue. Tea leaves to take home are also sold, making them ideal souvenirs. It is also a good idea to combine it with mango shaved ice, a staple of Taiwanese cuisine.

Taipei’s Recommended Activity Spots and Tips for Parents and Children

The best part of the guessing game is not only exploring the pop-up stores but also the surrounding area. Ximending Town in Taipei is full of K-Pop stores and is a great place to look for goods. My daughter got some limited items and was very satisfied. Since it is only a few MRT stops away from the hotel, we spent our evenings and nights there. Transportation in Taiwan is convenient, and with a Yuyu Card, buses and trains are smooth.

The tips for parent-child travel are to prioritize the daughter’s interests, while mixing in adult pleasures, such as a massage at the Sheraton Taipei spa to recharge for the next day’s activities, and a visit to the Taipei 101 shopping mall to shop for fashion items. Finding fashion items at the Taipei 101 shopping mall is also fun. Share a bowl of chicken waste or tapioca milk tea at a food stroll in a Taiwan night market. If you are concerned about hygiene, take advantage of the dining room in the hotel.

As for budget control, get a discount through the hotel points program. During my stay, I opted for the breakfast plan and saved money. The Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Zhongzheng Memorial Hall, a highlight of Taipei sightseeing, is free. Mixing a guessing game with a cultural experience makes for a memorable trip.

Private Wisdom-like Summary

My Taiwan thrust trip with my daughter was based at Sheraton Taipei and was colored by the comfort of the climate and the quiet time at the Little Hidden Tea Hermitage. The discovery that the first overseas trip between father and daughter brought was the joy of sharing and the accumulation of small luxuries. These private experiences are the wisdom that nurtures the richness of our hearts. Next time, you too can plan a trip that blends the world of guesswork with the charms of Taiwan. This hotel and the hidden teahouse will surely carve a special memory for you.
