Introduction to travel to Singapore: vibrant city and tourist attractions
Singapore is a multicultural city-state located in the heart of Southeast Asia and is world-renowned for landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands and Merlion. It is characterized by high humidity due to its tropical climate and a modern skyline that offers visitors a wide variety of experiences. On this trip, we stayed at the InterContinental Singapore by IHG and enjoyed dinner at LANTERN overlooking Marina Bay Sands, peanut and kaya toast breakfast at the Long Bar, and sightseeing at Merlion. Detailed tourist information can be found on the official Singapore Tourism Board website. You can check details on the official website of InterContinental Singapore, where we stayed, LANTERN information can be found on the official Marina Bay Sands restaurant website, and Long Bar can be found on the official Raffles Hotel website. This trip was a valuable opportunity to experience the charms and challenges of Singapore.
Lodging Experience: Comfort at InterContinental Singapore
Upon arrival in Singapore, check in at the InterContinental Singapore by IHG. Located in the Bugis district, the hotel is within walking distance of the MRT station. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with classical Peranakan-style decor. Check-in was smooth and the hospitality of the staff pleasant. Accommodation costs start at about 30,000 yen per night (varies depending on the season). The room windows allow for a quiet rest while still feeling the vibrancy of the city. One useful tip: If you are a member of the IHG Rewards Club, register in advance for point rewards and upgrades. The hotel also has a swimming pool and gymnasium, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. This stay was the foundation of our Singapore visit.

Kaya Toast Breakfast: Singapore’s Taste Delight
First experience with Kaya Toast at a hotel breakfast. Crispy thin toast with sweet coconut and pandan leaf kaya jam and a semi-cooked egg. The balance of sweet and salty is perfect, and the rich butter adds to the flavor. It was a perfect match with coffee, and I looked forward to it every morning. Even after returning to Japan, I bought kaya jam to recreate it.Tips: Outside of hotels, Yakun Kaya Toast ( Yakun official website ) offers the authentic taste of Yakun Kaya Toast. Go to the restaurant early for breakfast to avoid crowds. Kaya Toast is a must-try for tourists as it offers a casual taste of Singapore’s food culture.

Dinner at LANTERN: Blissful view of Marina Bay Sands
Dinner at LANTERN with a view of Marina Bay Sands from the other side of the river. The rooftop bar is an open space with a beautiful panoramic view of Marina Bay Sands. We enjoyed cocktails and seafood with the night view in the background. The seafood platter was especially fresh and paired perfectly with the wine. The price was around 10,000 yen per person. The atmosphere is romantic and perfect for couples or anniversaries; a tip: reservations are required and the best time to visit is at dusk (around 6:00 p.m.). Dress code is smart casual. This dinner made our evening in Singapore very special.

Marina Bay Sands Rooftop: Gap between Expectation and Reality
We visited the rooftop restaurant (CÉ LA VI) at Marina Bay Sands, but strong winds prevented us from relaxing and enjoying it. The infinity pool was for guests only, and although the view was nice, it was uncomfortable due to the wind. In contrast, the view from LANTERN was excellent, which made us realize that it is right to “see it from the outside” at Marina Bay Sands.Tips: Check the weather for the rooftop restaurant. If it is windy, choose a bar or restaurant on the other side of the river for comfort. This learning made our sightseeing more efficient.

Peanuts at the Long Bar: Singapore Sling and Tradition
We enjoyed the famous Singapore Sling and peanuts at the Long Bar of the Raffles Hotel. The atmosphere is unique with peanut shells scattered on the floor. The cocktail has a pleasant sweet and sour, tropical flavor. The price is about 3,000 yen per glass. The all-you-can-eat peanut shells are available, making it a casual and fun place to enjoy cocktails. The colonial-style interior gives a sense of history and is a good accent for sightseeing. This experience taught me a lot about Singaporean traditions.

Merlion Sightseeing: The Symbol of Singapore
Visit Merlion Park and observe the symbol of Singapore. Located in the Marina Bay area, it is free and accessible. While the park is crowded with tourists for daytime shots, it is beautifully lit up at night. Enjoy strolling around the area and enjoy the night view of Marina Bay. tips, early morning or evening is recommended for photography as it is free. It is recommended to take a break at a nearby café and enjoy the view at your leisure. This sightseeing made me experience the standard of Singapore.

Cozy in Singapore: Humidity and the Realities of Life
Singapore’s humidity was high and temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius were difficult to spend time in. Outdoor sightseeing was sweaty and not comfortable. It is a popular city for working abroad, but I personally found it difficult to live there. Air-conditioned indoor facilities and hotels are a lifesaver; as a tip, bring light clothing and a portable fan. Don’t forget to stay hydrated. This difference in environment was a real learning experience of the trip.

Overall satisfaction: balance between gastronomy and view
Kaya Toast and LANTERN dinners were highlights of our trip to Singapore. We learned that Marina Bay Sands is best viewed from outside, and although there were some humidity issues, the gastronomy and night view filled our hearts. Next time I would like to visit Gardens by the Bay. For reference in trip planning, aim for the cooler season (November to February) and do more indoor sightseeing. This trip gave us a multifaceted view of Singapore’s attractions.
Private Wisdom-like Summary
A trip to Singapore is a journey where gastronomy and spectacular views enrich the soul. My personal wisdom is that the key is to enjoy dinner and kaya toast at LANTERN and view Marina Bay Sands from the outside. Savor the vibrancy of the city while coping with the humidity. This experience is a quiet time of exotic charm.
